A coffee named after the precious gemstone, the emerald (esmeralda in Spanish).  Emeralds from Colombia are regarded worldwide by jewellers to be some of the best quality and most unique. Given the coffee that is produced in Huila, this name makes perfect sense. This coffee in particular is produced solely by female coffee producers from this region.
For us, this coffee had a lovely malic acidity and a stewed rhubarb & brown sugar-like sweetness that made it an easy choice to purchase for the roastery.

This coffee was sourced by Caravela, who provide us with full transparency and information on a coffee like this. In their words: the producers behind this coffee are hard workers and very passionate. They use traditional methods to process and produce high quality coffee. They have been producing coffee for various decades, and despite the challenges, they have always produced their coffee with care and pride.

A great example of a washed coffee from Colombia and the kind of coffee we want to drink all day long. It's not a coincidence that this shines through in the cup, it's through the time, care and attention that's given to the coffee as it's grown and harvested...it's a pleasure and a privilege to roast and brew this coffee.
